Please try again later. This game is pretty cool. At first I thought the cinematic aspects might detract from the overall gameplay, but its quite refreshing. It flows pretty smoothly from the original Gears and its general mechanics, while having some additions, is basically a nice flow from the original. Graphics and sound effects are great. Nice addition to my library.
One person found this helpful. Gears of War 2 has everything you would expect from a sequel. Satisfying chainsaw kills, shootouts from an epic standpoint, and a deeper understanding of who the Locust are. The story was great, the gameplay was ridiculously satisfying, and the graphics were great even for this time. I recommend this game to those who missed the first time around. Finnally all the DLC contents have been releases and would only be justice to give a review after everything is done.
If you are still wondering if you should get this game, then you should get the Game of the year edition. The price of all DLC's are about [ The game itself is good and challanging but playing it with someone else is better. Completing the game in Insane and have your partner play on easy and let him do all the work but still lets you get the insane chevo is even better. Gears 2 is easier than the first and the online is verry laggy.
Being able to play 5 vs 5 is better than 4 vs 4 in my opinion but I love Wingman, Submission and the new version of Assassination. The new weapons and the new version of the hammerburst is awesome, more skill required than the lancer. Several changes have been made through popular requests though the Gears 2 website like smoke grenades and shotgun power. This is an outstanding game.
The story is one of the best for a shooter game. Although I think this game is considerably easier than the first, there will still be times where you want to throw the controller through the TV. That's a good thing, if it was too easy it would not feel that you accomplished anything.
The first player mode also playable in co-op! This game has the same problems the first had with movement. This can be frustrating at times and it breaks up your immersion in the game. Side Note: Another problem I have is you must have a Gold account to play co-op. I know this is fairly common for XBox games but I do not like having to pay a subscription to play online. I do not want to debate XBox vs. I have not played any versus modes.
Hoard mode is you and up to four others against waves of Locust. Each wave gets progressively harder as you advance. This mode was not as fun as I would have thought. It seems the best way to get to the next wave is to set up a defensive area and wait for them to come to you. I would have preferred to assault the Locust position but the numbers and types of Locust just will not allow that until you have substantially thinned them out.
Me and a friend were able to get through all 50 levels and turned around and started over. If you do private match you can start at any level you've previously reached which is nice for those that can't sit and play for hours on end.
If you join a public match you always start at level 1. This works for finding friends but can't imagine getting through all 50 levels with a PUG. I really did not enjoy that, yes their world is quite beautiful to say the least!
Amazing Graphics! Gore Is Great! Arrived on time and works great. I receieved rainbow six disc inside the gears of war 2 box. Major disappointment. Extra long wait now. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Translate all reviews to English. Very nice sequel. In fact, you have to consider Gears of war as a Trilogy. It is fun to do them in order. Lotsa shooting and very macho hard man attitude from Phoenix. Lotsa shooting and many thing to discover.
Didn't play online, just did the story and ti was fun killing all the monsters. Report abuse. Exactement ce que je voulais , yes super merci.. Report abuse Translate review to English. Though it is an old game and it's sequel is already out GOW It is still a great game with very good graphics The storyline is good and it's an enjoyable game.

The story begins in the year As the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close, the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on private military companies PMCs , elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accords further legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to serve in every aspect of military operations. While the benefits of such PMCs are apparent, growing concerns surrounding giving them too much power begin to mount.

But that may be about to change with the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order and Enemy Front , two games that take place in settings either directly lifted from—or inspired by—the battlegrounds of the Second World War. As we stand at the crest of a potential WWII videogame revival it seems like a good idea to look back at some of the best entries to this genre to date. Here is a list of WWII games that portray the war in various ways, from grim-faced reverence to mindless, barely historical fun.
The Saboteur is not only a lot of fun, it also shows that the Allied victory sometimes owed as much to partisan resistance as it did to traditional military campaigning. Velvet Assassin is clunky and weird but ultimately pretty great. Its main character is an opium-addicted secret agent based on real-life spy Violette Szabo and its missions are concerned more with quiet sneaking than frantic gunplay.
Just as The Saboteur portrays another side of WWII through its look at citizen uprising, Velvet Assassin offers a good reminder that the war was fought by more than just stoic, uniformed men. Less concerned with marksmanship than tactical smarts, Company of Heroes is a game about controlling battle on a large scale.
Successfully pulling off a carefully formulated plan makes the player feel like a master general—even if that player is as chronically inept at real-time strategy games as I am. Red Orchestra 2 deserves credit for swiftly disabusing players of that notion. Soldiers go down with a single well-placed shot, gun sights must be dialed in by hand according to target range and actual, honest-to-god ballistics are used to determine bullet drop over long distances.
The end result of this dedication to realism is a game where death is swift and constant. And it turns out that WWII without recharging health and arcade-style shooting is a grim affair. Commanding the same soldiers throughout an entire campaign makes it an appropriately heavy bummer to lose a fellow trooper during a hectic firefight, too. Battlefield is a nightmare—a never-ending war, interminably fought on hundreds of servers—made into time-wasting joy.

Users are required to not only manage their army, but collect and protect resources from your enemies. Where Company of Heroes really shines is in its story, as the game delivers a surprisingly deep and nuanced cast of characters. Couple this with the solid mechanics to get one of the best RTS titles of the modern era.
Where World at War shined was in its portrayal of the various different factions battling across the entire planet. This not only allowed for certain areas, such as the Pacific Theater, to have a moment to shine, but acted as a pseudo-documentary for the various fronts that soldiers fought on.
It was a smart way to keep the story from slowing down, as every moment felt like a greatest hits track for World War II gaming. Maps were expertly crafted, with users able to not only call in attack dogs, but use flamethrowers and drive tanks. Every weapon felt perfectly balanced, allowing for players to experiment with a variety of different approach options and play styles.
Sniping is a rather large part in a number of World War II video games, but only one really made it the focus of the mechanics and story. Sniper Elite V2 not only delivered truly compelling gameplay, but wrapped it all up in a bloody, stylized package.
The main draw for many fans are the slow motion kills that encapsulate all of the awesome long range shots you make as a sniper. This not only allows Sniper Elite V2 to stand out visually, but offers a more intimate experience to a normally detached style of play. There was also a fun co-op mode called Overwatch which had someone cover their buddy from a lofty perch, and players were also given a plethora of approach opportunities in the single player, making stealth a viable choice.
There are a lot of different types of World War II first person shooters out there, but ones that focus more on realism are typically not as prevalent in the medium. However, developer Tripwire Interactive changed that with Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad which is a multiplayer focused title that rewards smart players. Users not only have account for bullet drop and spin, but have their entire HUD removed, forcing them to check their ammo manually.
This style was a sharp contrast to other military shooters like Battlefield and Call of Duty which focused more on an arcade style of gameplay. Developer Gearbox Software makes sure that every one of the principle soldiers in your squad get some kind of characterization beyond simple stereotypical roles.
This makes every moment much more climactic, as you will never know when exactly someone in your group will die. All of this is wrapped in a solid package that offers solid shooting, superb voice acting, good visuals, and some clever level design that never punished users for experimenting with different types of weapons. Not only did Wolfenstein 3D pave the way for the genre, but it did so in the most hectic and bloody way possible.
The story is simple, you are B. Then there was the superb level design that was full of hidden treasures and doors that rewarded those who went off the beaten path to explore for goodies. Plus, you got to fight a giant mech driving Hitler at the end which is about as satisfying an ending as we can think of. Perhaps one of the most important multiplayer games to ever release, Battlefield not only refined online shooters, but revolutionized them.
All of this helped immerse players, allowing for them to fight against others on a far larger scale. The impact of this title can be seen far and wide, from the implementation of different roles, to a bigger focus on balancing both infantry and mechanized combat. The Medal of Honor series of WW2 games has sadly vanished this gaming generation, but when Frontline released back in it rocked the world.

I'm not sure this game is directly along the lines of what you are asking for but you might check it out. I personally enjoy the beta. I have no idea when the full game is going to be released to the public though.
